Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign getting good response in Goa

The state of Goa is conducting the MR Vaccination campaign as part of National Strategy to eliminate Measles and control Rubella/CSR in the country.
The said campaign is getting good response in the state as children from 9 months to 15 years are being vaccinated at respective centres.
Vaccination camps are being set up under the health department in collaboration with Dept of education at schools.
Measles is a highly infectious disease caused by Virus. An estimated nearly 49000 die from measles annually, making it one of the leading causes of child deaths in India.
Measles can be prevented by immunizing children with two doses of measles vaccine, which is safe and effective ,said the letter sent by Dept of education to schools.
Doctor of School health from Sattari Taluka Dr.Sanjay Gaonkar told millattimes.com that this drive is currently being conducted in the five states of India. Here in Goa we are getting really good cooperation from parents and teachers. He said, since last two weeks we are working on it , Complain of any side effect have not yet reported,he added.
