while speaking at the awareness program Dr.Jagdish said that there are two popular means of committing suicide ,one is consumption of Alcohol.
He said, in reality it is very common but unrecognized mean of suicide.The problem of alcoholism is a huge problem nearly 50% of the beds available in Goa Medical College are occupied by patients who need medical attention due to consumption of Alcohol,he added.
He said that parents have to be role models for the children . He asked parents to guide children to make the right friends and keep them away from the negative influence of lifestyles led by celebrities who are the models for the present generation, parents should be aware and watchful of the environment in and around schools and colleges.
According to Dr.Jagdish present generation has many distractions to take them away from their focus on studies,alcohol companies are leaving no stone unturned to increase their sale among teenagers.
Father.m Walter Miranda of Guardian Angel High Secondary College shared his thoughts on the subject and asked the gathering to establish strong family ties as a shield against alcoholism. Later Ateeq ur Rehman- NLP expert and life coach said that prohibition is not the way ahead but developing God consciousness and accountability will help change the attitude towards Alcohol.
Earlier Asif Hussain introduced Humanitarian Relief Society Goa . He stated that HRS Goa has kept itself busy with social service in the field of medical awareness and aids, educational counseling and scholarships for the needy students.
