MMERC and all its affiliated institutions hold three elocution competitions in English each academic year in which participation of all students of DELL is compulsory.
Mumbai, 2 December: The final round of the second elocution competition 2019-21 was held in the spacious hall of Markazul Ma’arif Education and Research Centre (MMERC), Mumbai. Out of 29 contestants, 9 qualified for the final round. The finalists were Hammad Quraishi, Ahmad Kalimuzzama, Mohd Adnan, Abdul Malik, Mohd Bilal, Mohd Sufyan, Abdur Rab, Tariq Khan, and Asim Suhail. They demonstrated their proficiency in speaking English and regaled the audience through their speeches on various topics.
The national coordinator of MMERC’s DELL course, Maulana Muddassir Ahmad Qasmi told, “MMERC and all its affiliated institutions hold three elocution competitions in each of its academic year in which participation of all students, enrolled in Diploma in English Language and Literature (DELL), is compulsory.” He further said, “MMERC also organizes a national level Inter-DELL elocution competition in which three best speakers from each affiliated and non-affiliated DELL-run institution participate.”
The Chief Guest of the program, Maulana Tauqeer Ahmad Qasmi, HoD English Department of Darul Uloom Deoband, while addressing students said, “Allah (swt) has graced you with such skills and abilities that you can render remarkable services for the community and the country. My request to all of you is that always work under the guidelines of your elders.” He further said, “Oratory skill is very essential weapon for a successful leader. It is the only way through which you can change people’s thoughts and behavior and pave the way for their guidance.”
Professor Mohd Arif Ansari, one of the judges of the competition, giving his observations said, “All speeches delivered by contestants were well-prepared and their efforts were highly admirable.” Giving a valuable suggestion to the students he further said, “There is always a room for improvement in everything, therefore you should avail the opportunities as much as you can in MMERC.”
The second judges of the program, Shaikh Dabir appreciated the efforts put by contestants and said that all topics of the speeches were addressing the need of present time. He said, “I believe that the world will take benefits from your practical thoughts.”
The program was presided over by Hafiz Iqbal Chunawala, a member of advisory body of Darul Uloom Waqf Deoband. In presidential speech, he shed some lights on importance of English language for Da’wah purpose and paid tribute to Maulana Badruddin Ajmal Al-Qasmi for his revolutionary work through establishing MMERC.
Maulana Muhammad Burhanuddin Qasmi, director of MMERC, announced the results and declared Muhammad Tariq Khan, Mohd Sufyan, and Hammad Quraishi first, second and third position holders respectively.
Mufti Muhammad Faheem Usmani compared the program beautifully. All the staff of MMERC, especially, Maulana Atiqur Rahman Qasmi, branch in charge of MMERC, and teachers Maulana Aslam Javed Qasmi, Mufti Jaseemuddin Qasmi, Mufti Rashid Qasmi, Maulana Muaaz Mudassir Qasmi and Maulana Md Waseem Akram Qasmi contributed their best to make the program a success.
