Solapur University senate election is scheduled to be held on 25 september. About 7000 graduates of are going to cast their vote to elect 10 senators .
Eijaz Manzoor Alam a young teacher from the city has dared to contest the senate election in the open catogry and putting all his efforts to become the part this high level body .
Senate is the prestigious body which assists the university in smooth functioning and the helps all the concerns for better and positive results.
Earlier Solapur District was attached with Shivaji University Kolhapur .It has got its own Solapur University in 2006 and declared the election for the second time.
As per information received in the 50 year history of Shivaji University no Muslim candidate has been elected as senator.
40 year old Eijaz Alam spoke to millattimes.com and said, conditions are really favourable for me because SUTA (Solapur University Teachers Association ) and Shikshak Kruti samiti have extended their support to me .He said that I am getting very response from my Maratha and Dalit brothers.we have also managed to enroll nearly 700 Muslim graduates in the voter list,He added.
Eijaz Alam is working as a High school teacher since last 17 years.He is very active in various teachers organisations and know as a nearest and dearest activist of Pune Division Teachers’ MLC Dattatraya Sawant .
A city based primary school head Master Asif Iqbal told that Eijam Alam has a very good social and Educational background. He is capable enough to be a part of this educational process.He further said,Now our graduates should come out and cast the vote on the pole day.
