Why does our country need a constitution?

By Mohamad Shafi
Each one of us knows very well that our Constitution was adopted on 26 November1949, however it came into force on 26 January 1950, here a simple question strikes our mind that each community has a religious book, whether we talk about Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists, each of them have faith in their Heavenly books which advocate their rights, which talk about a stable and prosperous society which can be accessible to every one, however, India is very different from other subcontinent, it is like a composite garden which has been cultivated by multi communities, which has been irrigated with different source of water, it has been bred by true and sincere gardeners, and this the reason that thousands types of flowers are blossoming in this garden, and bees of other countries are visiting its flowers to suck the nectar.
Such unique characteristics make India biggest democratic country in the world, now it has been very clear that every community has its share in nation building, so every community cannot agree upon a single religious book, and this is the main hurdle and obstacle which could have landed every one in trouble, could have lead to the long lasting strife between the communities, so the great personalities of every communities came forward to draft sets of rules and regulations in a bid to bring followers of different religion under single umbrella, each one can feel the similar fervor of religious freedom, social equality, and economic prosperity.
We can summarize it saying our constitution advocates equality, it ensures that every citizen can enjoy similar social fabric, no one can be discriminated on the basis of cast, creed, colour, religion, and language, no one can be denied the access to the basic necessities, everyone can flourish equally.
On the basis of discrimination being vented by our administration can we proclaim that constitution has been enacted in full fledged way, if yes, then why the innocent children of certain cast are being burnt alive? Why people of certain cast are being lynched to death on the basis of rumor of beef eating? why the creamy layers of particular community are being detained labeling them with terrorist? why people of certain community are being massacred at the behest of the CM, why people of certain community are being hanged without proving their crime? why women of certain community are being raped just because they belong to the lower and downtrodden cast? why certain area is being ghatoazied? why people of certain community cannot be recruited in country’s intelligence service? why youths of certain community are being denied jobs on the basis of beard? why so called nationalists are ransaking homes of other communities? why historical and sacred places are being vandalized?
The answer to all these questions is, that Indian constitution has lost its meaning, no longer it has any impact on the the citizens, constitution is being tamed by those people who openly say that they have no faith in the Constitution.(Millat Time)
