Women’s day special- “WOMAN’S VOICE – A ROAR”

By: Jaweria Afreen Hussaini

Women’s rights are the fundamental human rights. These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery, injustice, Misogyny and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage. “Women’s rights are human rights.” Winning rights for women is about more than giving opportunities to any individual woman or girl; it is also about changing how countries and communities work. It involves access to education, expanding women’s economic opportunities, to have quality maternal health rights, Social reformations, changing perceptions and investing in strong women’s organizations and movements.

Energizing the efforts and focus on strengthening women’s movements, help lead the charge for social change on the most pressing issues.

Only when women have taken leadership and peacemaking roles and have an equal political voice will economies and countries are transformed. And only then will all women and girls have the self-determination they are entitled to. When Women go wrong; All Men go Right after her.

In today’s world, if we want to see the change, drive the campaigns to spark that change. Lasting and impactful CHANGE happens when people join together and form a movement. Women’s Movements have changed the world and created History like – Ended Civil wars, Election of female presidents, secured laws protecting millions of women and children, won women the right to vote.

No matter where you belong, do your bit. It will definitely work. Not now but later it does work. You need to keep trying and striving. Being a feminist doesn’t mean to have power over men; but over ourselves.

The prime truth of woman, the Universal mother…that if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly. Risks are important because – If you don’t risk; You can’t Start…As a Woman of substance, it is important to understand our duties towards raising the young generation. The reformation in education is the need of the hour. It’s high time we teach our kids not to compete with machine or be like machines with a fixed routine. In the coming years, the world will be overtaken by the machines. So it’s important that we teach our children to be humans by teaching them the Values, self-believing, Team work, Independent thinking, Care for others… The skills must be recognized in a child, so that our next generation will never be confused about how to compete with machines.

Incite the self confidence in a child more than what the world wants your child to be like. Do not educate your child just to earn only Money; Educate the child to develop as a Human. Educate your child to respect the opposite gender, make them realize that all are human beings and treated equally.

Remember- If a boy doesn’t respect his mother, he cannot and will never respect any girl or a woman in his life. Do not encourage your boys to find the right woman for him; instead teach him how to be a right man. Teach your girls to be self-confident and stand for herself, speak for herself and protect herself. Child’s education must yield positivity and Humanity more than the money making. As a Mother, always be an inspiration to your kids, so that your child gets a clear picture of how to be a human. C’mon, you are the future of this world. Let’s give a better future. For the world needs more of better people.

I could have stayed at home and cooked delicacies and had teas relaxing on my sofa. But I decided to fulfill my passion and took up as a Social entrepreneur and came into public life with my writings. I have seen when women have Voice, if they can take decisions, and have an access to  economic empowerment through right education and right sources – They lift up the their families; By this they lift up their Communities and ultimately it lifts the Nation. It is such an irony that a hall filled with men sit together and discuss about the rights of women, gender justice and gender equality; without a single woman representation.

Later when these men have decided, they come forward in front of the world and sit with women to announce their rights. Isn’t it weird that a woman is not given a chance to speak on what a woman needs? Is this really going to solve the problem????

If women come together in a self-help group and if they get their Voice together and back each other, they can actually go to the government and demand services, they can go and demand for their rights, So there is Strength in that number. And for this it doesn’t matter from where you are, which end of the society you belong. It just becomes a common thread when you join together for the Cause.

Let’s make our boys the Gentlemen and our girls a Diva for a better world.
