Welfare Party of India strongly condemned the JNU administration for rusticating Umar Khalid and two other students and imposing a fine on 13 students by falsely accusing them to have raised antinational slogans in the campus on february 9,2016.

National President Dr SQR Ilyas in his press statement called it extra constitutional and high handedness on the part of the JNU administration in intimidating their own students. He questioned their motive and time chosen for rusticating and fining the students which he said is highly communal and political in nature.

With elections round the corner he said that the JNU administration is behaving highly irresponsible like a puppet to satisfy the ulterior motives of their BJP masters in the government.

If the matter was so serious in nature the judiciary of the country would certainly have not referred the matter to the appellant authority of the university he stated, it is not even charge sheeted by the Delhi police he further pointed out.

The truth cannot be suppressed and dissent cannot be curbed in a democratic country. He demanded the JNU administration to withdraw all the charges on the innocent students and revoke the rustication orders and not jeopardise their student’s future.

He implored the students and the civil society to join hands and raise their voice against this growing intolerance and injustice in the campus in particular and nation at large.
