Best Teacher Awards Or Lollipops?

By Imran Inamdar

Rapport with the students, interaction with parents ,way of explanation and inspiring the students ,devoted work etc are the qualities of best teachers and they people only deserve the honors and recognition.

But unfortunately this kind of teachers are not getting the best teacher award these days in Maharashtra said Akif Dafedar a Mumbai based sr. Teacher. He further slammed NGOs for not following any criteria of the best teacher  and said that they are considering only donations ,qualifications, degrees and relations with the teachers to give away the awards which ,makes no sense at all. Akif says that, I always distance my self  from  accepting the same because thereafter  people will start making fun and started pointing finger at me. This has become  showoff business these days,he added.

Teachers Whatsapp group members  frequently experience celebration at their groups at large scale. Awardee teachers himself post the news ,pics of the functions and paper cuttings without fail and accepts appreciation from friends and thanked them with the big heart.

There is no doubt about that Teachers are  social engineers they shape the career of students. Their valuable contribution to the society and nation is truly commendable.

To recognize their selfless services 5th September is celebrated as teachers’ Day in all the educational institutions of India. On the same day state Govt or local bodies honor some teachers by giving best Teacher award.

Two three decades ago some of the NGOs started joining the award giving club  but it is very reprehensible to say that  now a days number of associations, societies, academies, political wings etc of various cities of Maharashtra are jumping in this award giving showground and distributing  the same among teachers just like distributing lolli pops or chips among kids  without following any appropriate criteria.

Putting some light on this issue state president of Maharashtra shikshak sanghatna ,a govt teacher from Aurangabad sheikh Moinuddin informed Millattimes.com that  only govt authorities and clubs like lions and rotary follow some criteria before declaring the award but  NGOs and other association are tarnishing the status of this honor by giving awards to lazy teachers .

Shaikh further  said that during this dirty politics rights of hardworking teachers are snatched and putting them unnoticed zone. He further added that many people are taking notice of this erroneous happenings but unfortunately not raising their voice against the same which is not good and disadvantageous for our education system.

A Pune city based parent Imran sajjad khan expressed that services of the teachers should be appreciated because number of teachers are contributing to the society nicely without shouting and lauding .

He further added that There Is a big difference between felicitation and the award.Award itself is a very dignified word but unfortunately small NGOs are tarnishing the image of the awards for the sake of publicity of their organizations and teachers are falling prey unknowingly. He said that teachers should keep an example of Bollywood star Amir khan before them who never accepts any award but dominating his field ,contributing to the society and the nation through his acting and innovative skills since decades and considered as a Mr. perfectionist, he further quoted.
