Goa Jouranlist Shashwat wins  awards for meritorious services

Goa:-  Resident editor of Daily Gomantak times Shashwat Gupta Ray has won two  government awards for his  excellent contribution  in the field of journalism .Awards  ceremony was held on November 16 at Menezes Braganza Hall where Goa  chief Minister  Manohar Parrikar  was the chief  guest.
GT editor Shashwat has won the awards for his reporting in public health and hygiene “Listeria Occurrence more in shell fish than in fin fish and for his article on art and culture titled view the history of Indian Cinema theory through the lenses of  past.”
The selection of  awards was done under the Goa state Journalists Awards scheme by the Department of Information and publicity.
42 year old Shashwat is extending his  services in the field of journalism  since last 15 years he worked for Pune Sakal, Tahelka and other media houses as senior reporter.
In his  conversation with Millattimes.com Shashwat expressed himself wholeheartedly and said that It feels  great because such awards are given away through a competitive process ,  It is unbiased and thoroughly scrutinized .which indicates that quality work gets recognition at  highest level, he added.
Gupta further said, Dedicated journalists do not need awards but awards are important to acknowledge their  quality work. Many times during the course of work,one faces mid  career crises standing at a four road crossing. When such awards come their  way these act as confirmation, yes  we  are on the  right track .
Commenting on dominance of social media and special stories  he said, Importance of  special  stories was felt much before advent of  social media .Early 2000 private electronic media started to  show up.They grew larger in size and chopped off a huge advertisement pie meant for print media.
 He further said , special stories are being done to give something different to read and keep its relevance in tact. It also helps to explore untouched isssues  in depth.
Gupta  is known as true and dedicated  journalist ,  recently his  team visited Valpoi town based  two  Madarsas for special story purpose and tried  to clear the misconceptions and  flashed all the  positive points of Madrasa and true picture of Islam  which  are generally not  highlighted by the media.
