A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya district has acquitted Samajwadi Party leader Moid Khan in a high-profile gang rape case involving a minor, while convicting his servant Raju Khan, whose sentence is scheduled for Jan. 29.
The case, registered on July 29, 2024, at the Purakalandar police station in Bhadrasa, drew widespread attention. During the investigation, Moid Khan’s bakery and shopping complex were demolished by bulldozer action.
DNA tests conducted on both men showed Moid Khan’s sample was negative, while Raju Khan’s was positive, prompting the court’s ruling.
The verdict was delivered Wednesday by the POCSO First Court in Ayodhya.
