The All India Milli Council (AIMC) has urged the Delhi Police to take strict measures to maintain law and order in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar following a recent clash between two families that left a 26-year-old man dead.

In a letter dated March 11 to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dwarka district, AIMC leaders said the incident began after a minor altercation involving a balloon accidentally dropped by a young girl on a neighbouring woman. The dispute later escalated into a clash between two families, resulting in the death of Tarun, 26, son of Memraj.

The organisation said it appreciated the prompt action taken by police to control the situation but expressed concern over developments in the area after the incident.

“We wish to bring to your attention a matter of serious concern,” the letter stated, adding that local residents have reported the presence of outsiders entering the locality and attempting to provoke tensions.

According to AIMC, some individuals have allegedly issued threats against members of the Muslim community in the area, including warnings of possible violence during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr festival.

“These statements have created fear and anxiety among residents and have the potential to disturb communal harmony and public peace,” the organisation said.

The group also raised concerns over the demolition of the house belonging to the accused family by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). AIMC leaders said the action had caused distress within the local Muslim community, particularly since police had already arrested the accused persons in the case.

“The demolition has been perceived as unjust and may further aggravate tensions in the area,” the letter said.

In its appeal, the organisation urged the police to increase deployment in Uttam Nagar and surrounding areas to prevent any escalation. It also called for strict legal action against individuals spreading threats, hate speech or provocation.

AIMC further requested authorities to monitor the movement of outsiders in the locality and take preventive steps to ensure the Eid festival is observed peacefully by all communities.

The letter was signed by Dr. Parvez Mian, along with Mohd. Alam and Dr. Abdul Malik Mughesi.

The delegation also thanked the police for granting them time to present their concerns.

“We are confident that the Delhi Police will take all necessary steps to safeguard peace, ensure the rule of law and protect the lives and security of all citizens without discrimination,” the organisation said.
