A Muslim youth was beaten to death by a Hindutva mob in Balasore district of Odisha, reports said.

The attack took place on Wednesday within the jurisdiction of the Sadar Police Station. The victim has been identified as Sheikh Mohammad, who worked as a van helper.

Videos showing the assault on Sheikh Mohammad were released by the Hindutva group itself. The attackers tried to force him to say “cow is mother” and made him chant the slogan “Jai Shri Ram.”

The youth suffered severe injuries after being attacked with plastic pipes, sharp weapons, and knives. Though the police rushed him to the hospital, he died during treatment.

According to the police, the accused are Bapu from Sahada village, Pavan from Asingad village, Pintu from Old Balasore, Nepali from Patripada, and Chinu Telenga from Saraguna.
