New Delhi: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Syed Sadatullah Hussaini has appealed to all citizens of India for maintaining peace and communal harmony after the Supreme Court of India delivered the Ayodhya verdict today morning.
Addressing the media the JIH President said: “We are not completely satisfied with the Supreme Court judgment on the “Babri Masjid title suit”, some points of the judgment are very important as they strengthen the Constitution of India and will help in maintaining law and order in the country. However, we disagree with many things in the verdict, especially the conclusion.
We live in a civilized society where the rule of the law is paramount. We have always been saying that we will honor, respect, and accept what the Supreme Court and the judicial process will conclude. Our lawyers are reviewing the judgment whether there is scope to file a review or curative petition and we will make a decision regarding that in consultation with the other Muslim Personal Law Board members.
To conclude, we are not satisfied with the judgment but we appeal to the people that they must honor the judgment, respect the law, and maintain communal harmony. There should not be any polarization on communal lines due to the verdict. This judgment is neither a victory nor defeat of any party.”
