An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, while two other Indians were injured, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh said on Thursday.
The embassy said it was gathering further information and contacting the affected families.
The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said the second person killed was a Saudi national. Eight people were injured in the attack late on Wednesday, which also caused material damage at the airport.
Flight-tracking service Flightradar24 said flights had been diverted away from the airport.
The incident comes amid an escalation in attacks on Saudi infrastructure by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
In a separate incident, an Indian national was injured in a drone attack targeting the Shaybah oilfield in Saudi Arabia, the Indian mission said, adding that it would provide the injured person with necessary assistance.
Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said air defences intercepted a drone attempting to target a facility at the oilfield, operated by state-owned oil company Saudi Aramco, on Wednesday morning.
