Khushboo Pandey Held for Allegedly Sparking Communal Clash in Bihar’s Jamui

Jamui, Bihar: Tensions flared in Jhajha Baliyadih village of Jamui district, Bihar, after a communal clash broke out between Hindu and Muslim communities on Sunday. The violence reportedly began when a group attempted to recite the Hanuman Chalisa and raise religious slogans in front of a mosque, leading to an altercation.

In response to the unrest, authorities imposed a 48-hour internet suspension to prevent the spread of misinformation and further escalation. The police have filed an FIR against 100 individuals, including 41 named and 50-60 unidentified persons. So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the violence.

Among those arrested is Khushboo Pandey, who allegedly played a key role in inciting tensions. According to police reports, Pandey delivered inflammatory speeches, raised objectionable slogans, and was instrumental in organizing the unauthorized religious gathering. She was taken into custody from Jamui at 9 p.m. on Monday, underwent a medical check-up at 10:30 p.m., and was later sent to jail.

Khushboo Pandey, who identifies herself as a “Hindu Sherni,” reportedly led the gathering outside the mosque. Videos circulating on social media show her actively participating in religious chanting and making provocative statements. Officials state that her actions were a direct attempt to disrupt communal harmony.

Jamui SP confirmed that the violence erupted due to the aggressive slogans and refusal of the Hindu group to comply with police instructions. The administration acted swiftly, deploying forces from three police stations to arrest Pandey.

Authorities have charged Pandey and other accused under sections related to inciting communal violence, unlawful assembly, and disturbing public order. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of planning behind the event.

The situation in Jamui remains tense but under control, with security forces maintaining a strict vigil to prevent any further disturbances.
