US President Donald Trump on Friday renewed his threat against Iran, stating that America might “strike” its deeply buried nuclear facility “quite soon.”
Addressing journalists from the Oval Office, Trump cautioned that Pickaxe Mountain would be attacked if the US observes any movement there.
“We may hit Pickaxe very soon because if there was anything going on with Pickaxe,” Trump said, adding that US intelligence was closely monitoring activity at the site.
The president maintained that the United States has already prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, warning that if Tehran had one, “you probably wouldn’t be standing here very long.” Despite this reassurance, his remarks minimising the war’s human toll have angered members of Congress and relatives of the fallen.
Trump further claimed that the United States now controls the Strait of Hormuz, even though shipping traffic through the waterway remains well below pre-war levels amid extended American military deployments and ongoing global supply-chain disruptions in the region.
