Nashik Road Court on Monday granted bail to Nida Khan, a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee who is facing allegations in a widely discussed case related to alleged sexual harassment and religious conversion at the company’s Nashik office.

Additional Sessions Judge K G Joshi allowed Khan’s bail application, primarily taking into account her pregnancy, while declining the bail request of her co-accused, Danish Shaikh.Khan’s counsel, advocate Rahul Kasliwal, sought bail on medical grounds due to her pregnancy, media reports said.

According to media reports, the plea was strongly opposed by Public Prosecutor Vijay Gaikwad and the victim’s advocates, Milind Kurkute and Nitin Pandit. They argued that the investigation had revealed substantial evidence pointing towards sexual exploitation and religious coercion.

According to the prosecution, Shaikh allegedly handed the victim an SC woman and fellow TCS employee an Islamic book and a burqa in an alleged effort to persuade her to convert her religion.

The matter originates from an FIR lodged at the Deolali Camp police station under Sections 69 (sexual intercourse by deceit), 65 (sexual harassment), and 299 (outrage of religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The prosecution further asserted that the accused acted despite being fully aware that the complainant belonged to a Scheduled Caste community.

Meanwhile, SIT is investigating nine connected cases involving several women employees at the TCS Nashik unit. The probe covers allegations including exploitation, attempts at forced religious conversion, molestation, and mental harassment.

TCS has reiterated that it follows a “zero-tolerance policy against any form of harassment or coercion.” The company also confirmed that the employees named in the case have already been suspended while the investigation remains underway.
