Six policemen, including a station house officer (SHO), have been suspended in Rajasthan’s Jaipur Rural district after an RSS pracharak alleged that he was stripped and assaulted inside a police station.

The incident reportedly took place around 10 pm on October 10 in the Narena police station area. The pracharak, identified as Krishna Avtar, was taken to the police station, where personnel allegedly abused and beat him over his association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

According to the FIR, the policemen also made derogatory remarks about the organisation, reportedly saying, “The RSS has ruined the country.”

Krishna Avtar allegedly lost consciousness during the assault. He was taken to a community health centre and later referred to Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Hospital due to his serious condition.

An FIR was registered on October 11 following a complaint by Anurag Agiwal, the RSS’s Narena block executive, and an investigation was initiated.

The incident triggered protests, with RSS functionaries, workers and local residents gathering at the police station and staging a demonstration for around six hours. Local markets also remained closed during the protest, according to media reports.

BJP state chief spokesperson Ramlal Sharma, former MLA Nirmal Kumawat and Jaipur district rural south president Rajesh Gurjar joined the protest, demanding action against the personnel involved.

Jaipur Rural Superintendent of Police Hanuman Sahay reached the spot and assured protesters that action would be taken. Subsequently, SHO Umrao Singh and five other policemen were suspended.

The investigation into the incident is underway.
