Stop encroaching democratic institutions: Welfare Party of India

MT News Network |New Delhi:The Welfare Party of India in its press statement released today condemned Modi Government of misusing its office and divesting the Director of Central Bureau of Investigation CBI, Mr Alok Verma of his duty and sending him on leave.

National President of Welfare Party of India Dr SQR Ilyas criticised Modi Government’s action and called it extraconstitutional.He pointed out that the Central Vigilance Commission is an apex government body to address corruption but it has no authority to transfer or send the CBI director on leave. He questioned the political bosses who gave such orders and also demanded to know why the urgency to carry the orders in the middle of the night.

He said this action has pushed the country’s premier probe agency CBI into complete disarray. Its sanctity has diminished and the faith of the people in the country’s top most investigating agency is shaken, causing irreparable damage to the agency. He said Modi government must stop this interference and its calculated measures of encroaching democratic institutions.

He further questioned the Modi government’s ulterior motive behind this move and asked if it was a desperate attempt to hide or prevent the truth about government’s misdeeds surfacing.
Dr Ilyas demanded that

To reinstate Mr Alok Verma as Director of CBI. SIT Probe against corrupt officers. Quash appointment of Mr. Nageshwar Rao as interim director and all his orders withdrawn which he gave on resuming the office.
Non interference of government in all democratic institutions including CBI.
