Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday arrested two madrasa teachers in Saharanpur district after a video allegedly showing them assaulting a student surfaced on social media, officials said.

The undated video shows one teacher beating a child with a stick while another holds him down. Police said they took cognisance of the footage and registered a case.

The incident is reported to have taken place at a madrasa near Khanpur Gurjar village under the Gangoh police station limits.

Police said the video was recorded by another teacher and circulated after he left the institution. The student is still studying at the madrasa, and his statement is yet to be recorded.
