Viral Video Fact: Saffron Flag From Karawal Nagar Mosque Removed, Not Ashok Nagar Mosque

A video is circulating widely on social media, showing a Hindu boy named Ravi climbing atop the minaret removing the saffron flag. Many social media users are claiming that this video is from Ashok Nagar, recorded by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hindu. When the Millat Times Chief Editor phoned Delhi President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Mufti Abdul Razziq Mazahari for inquiring about it whether it is from Ashok Nagar where during Delhi riots a saffron flag was hoisted at minarat and later vandalized it or other riot-hit areas. Mufti saheb confirmed that video which is recorded by himself was from Karawal Nagar mosque (named Allah Wali Masjid), not from Ashok Nagar (named Maula Baksh) said social users falsely claimed. Removing of saffron flag from Masjid was done by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, credit goes to Delhi Jamiat.

It is noteworthy that at least 10 mosque were torched and vandalised in Delhi. After watching both the video, it became palpable that both are shot from differnt location, not same masjid but it is true that saffron flag placed on both masjid’s minaret. A saffron flag also taken down from Ashok Nagar’s masjid as reported by locals.

Meanwhile, the death toll in violence has jumped to 47. The communal violence in Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Babarpur, Chand Bagh, Shiv Vihar, Bhajan Pura, Yamuna Vihar and Mustafabad areas of northeast Delhi has left over 300 injured. A large number of properties have been damaged. Frenzied mobs had torched houses, mosques, shops, vehicles, a petrol pump and pelted stones at locals and police personnel. Two Special Investigation Teams (SIT) have been constituted under the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch to investigate the violence.
