Faridabad Municipal Corporation (MCF) demolished an under-construction mosque in Ganpati Colony, Palla area of Faridabad, Haryana, using a JCB machine on Tuesday.
Officials stated the structure was being built without approved building plans and violated municipal building bylaws.
According to MCF authorities, including legal advisor Satish Acharya, most of the construction was already complete, with only the roof (lenter) remaining. Notices had earlier been issued directing that the work be stopped, but construction continued nonetheless. A team accompanied by police personnel arrived at the site to enforce the action.
Local women present at the location protested the demolition. Reports indicate heated arguments ensued between the women and female police personnel, escalating into physical pushing and scuffling. Police personnel pushed the protesters back to allow the corporation team to complete the demolition and “tarnish women’s protesters’ clothes”. Videos of the confrontation have circulated widely on social media.
Mainstream local coverage, including from Dainik Bhaskar and News Nation, describes the incident as a scuffle during enforcement against unauthorised construction.
Some social media accounts have alleged more severe mistreatment of the protesting women, including claims of assault and torn clothing.
The action forms part of ongoing municipal efforts in Faridabad to address structures built without proper permissions.
