CCRUM to distribute Unani prophylactic medicines to mark AmritMahotsav
New Delhi, September : ShriSarbanandaSonowal,Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Dr. MunjparaMahendrabhaiKalubhai, Hon’bleMinister of State, Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Women & Child Development launched a nation-wide campaign for distribution of Ayushprophylactic medicines for COVID-19 and guidelines on diet and lifestyle with special focus on geriatric population here in New Delhi. To mark AzadikaAmritMahotsav, the 75th year of Independence of India, the campaign targets to distribute prophylactic Ayush medicines to 7.5 lakh people in the launch week viz. August 30 to September 5, 2021 and total 75 lakh people till August 15, 2022. Sh. Pramod Kumar Pathak, Special Secretary, Ministry of Ayushand other senior officers from the Ministry also graced the occasion.
On its part, the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India would distribute Unani prophylactic medicines and Unani Medicine based diet and lifestyle guidelines for COVID-19 to 1.76 lakhgeneral public specially elderly during August 30 to September 5, 2021. Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, CCRUM said that peripheral institutes of CCRUM located in New Delhi, Aligarh, Lucknow, Allahabad, Meerut, Bhopal, Burhanpur, Hyderabad, Patna, Mumbai, Chennai, Bhadrak, Kolkata, Srinagar, Kerala, Kurnool, Bengaluru and Silchar are running this drive and distributing Unani prophylactic medicines and guidelines for diet and lifestyle during COVID-19 pandemic from August 30, 2021. These institutes organized formal inauguration of this initiative at their respective campuses concurrent to the inauguration by Hon’ble Minister of State for Ayush at national level.
‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’ is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The Prime Minister, ShriNarendraModi inaugurated the ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’ by flagging off ‘Dandi March’ from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad on 12th March, 2021. The celebrations started 75 weeks before our 75th anniversary of Independence and will end on 15th August, 2022
