Delhi Municipal Corporation Takes Strict Action, Seals Drishti IAS Coaching Center

Following the tragic incident where three IAS aspirants lost their lives due to waterlogging in the basement of a coaching center in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, the Municipal Corporation has initiated a significant crackdown. On Monday, the Municipal Corporation team sealed the Drishti IAS Coaching Center located in Mukherjee Nagar. The coaching center was operating in the basement of Vardhman Mall, where the waterlogging incident occurred.

Major Action in Mukherjee Nagar:

The Municipal Corporation team swiftly acted by sealing all exit gates of the coaching center. The sudden action left both the center’s operators and students unable to retrieve their belongings. The center operated several large halls in the basement, where coaching classes were held for approximately 250-300 students in each hall.

The coaching center comprised 7-8 large halls in the basement, which were used for conducting coaching classes. The overcrowding and inadequate safety measures in these halls contributed significantly to the disaster.

Action Against Abhishek Gupta and Other Accused:

In the aftermath of the incident, Abhishek Gupta, CEO of Rao IAS Coaching Center, has been arrested and placed under 14-day judicial custody. Charges have been filed against him and other responsible individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 105 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder), Section 106(1) (Death by Negligence), Section 115(2) (Deliberate Injury), and Section 290 (Negligence Related to Building Safety).
