The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on March 5, 2020:
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India is of the view that the government should not link census exercise with NPR exercise. Many state governments including the NDA partners-led governments have already opposed NPR.
The Party has been opposing to NPR since the proposal for it came, and has pointed out that CAA-NRC-NPR are linked to each other. It is the consistent position of the Party that people are right in opposing CAA-NRC-NPR and should continue to do so.
The CPI calls upon the people not to answer NPR-related questionnaire.
The CPI demands BJP-led NDA government to remove all additional questions put in NPR questionnaire.
