Khamenei, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces, issued the directive during a meeting with senior military commanders, according to details shared on his official Telegram channel.
During the meeting, he stressed that maintaining military preparedness for a possible confrontation with Iran’s adversaries was essential to strengthening the country’s deterrence capabilities. He said any threat, regardless of its nature or scale, must receive an immediate and effective response.
He further stated that if Iran’s enemies resume military or terrorist attacks, Iran’s Armed Forces and people would determine when and under what conditions the confrontation would end.
Khamenei also called for strengthening military intelligence, developing indigenous defence capabilities, improving military strategies and tactics, and expanding the use of emerging technologies in defence and security systems.
In another major directive, he ordered a comprehensive update of Iran’s military target database, stating that all physical and non-physical assets belonging to the United States and Israel should be within the reach of Iranian Armed Forces.
The Iranian leader also highlighted the importance of public support for the military, describing nationwide backing for the Armed Forces as a key element of the country’s defence and deterrence strategy.
He praised the Resistance Front in different countries and said greater coordination among operational fronts could play a decisive role in shaping a new political and security order in West Asia.
He expressed hope that these developments would strengthen unity among Muslim countries and governments.
During the meeting, senior military officials, including Major General Abdollahi, Major General Amir Hatami and Major General Ahmad Vahidi, briefed Khamenei on Iran’s military readiness.
Their reports covered the Persian Gulf coastline, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman and Iran’s northwestern and southeastern borders. They also reported an increase in the production of ammunition, reconnaissance equipment, support systems and combat weapons.
Khamenei expressed satisfaction with the reported preparations and asked senior commanders to convey his appreciation to military personnel, police forces, Basij members, Defence Ministry employees and their families.
