Zakat Foundation of India had established its Sir Syed Coaching & Guidance Centre in New Delhi in 2007. Its chairman, also the Foundation’s pioneer Dr Syed Zafar Mahmood is a former civil servant. During 2005-2007 was appointed OSD by PM Manmohan Singh and on government’s behalf looked after the Justice Sachar Committee. Earlier he worked as First Secretary (Haj) in Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and later as Administrator of combined Waqf Board of Punjab, Haryana, HP and Chandigarh.
