Deadly Heat wave Claims Lives during Hajj Pilgrimage

While joy filled the air with Eid Celebrations, hearts in Makkah mourned as pilgrims succumbed to the unforgiving heatwave.

The annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca turned tragic this year as scorching temperatures soared above 50°C, leading to the deaths of at least 1,301 individuals, largely unregistered pilgrims who suffered the intense heat without proper permits or shelter.

The pilgrimage, a central belief of Islam requiring able Muslims to undertake it once in their lifetime, happen at the same time with an extreme heat wave.
